Internet Formats & Encoding

  • Description
    The Internet Formats & Encoding seminar provides an overview of the common data types used in Web development.  Included are text formats, graphics formats, sound formats, and movie formats.  In addition, the primary encoding and decoding methods used for data compression on the Web are described.
  • At the end of the seminar, attendees will be able to
    • Understand text formats, including TEX, LATEX, PostScript, and PDF
    • Understand graphics formats, including BMP, GIF, JPEG, and PICT
    • Understand sound formats, including AU, WAVE, and MIDI
    • Understand movie formats, including AVI, QuickTime, and MPEG
    • Understand data encoding/decoding methods, including UUEncode, UUDecode, MIME, and BinHex

  • There is no limit on the number of attendees

  • Instructor Qualifications

    1. Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
    2. 5 years professional experience in software engineering
    3. 5 years experience teaching computer professionals at the Graduate school level
