  • Description
    The Internet Security seminar provides an overview of the problems and approaches used to handle Internet security.  Problems such as phishing, trapdoors, Trojan horses, viruses, and worms are described.  Ways to set up a firewall to protect systems, including packet filtering, proxy service, and stateful inspection, are reviewed.  The major cryptography approaches, including DES, IDEA, RSA, PKCS, DSS, hash systems, public key systems, and private key systems are described.  Methods of authentication, such as identity systems, digital certificates, and Kerberos, are reviewed.
  • At the end of the seminar, attendees will be able to
    • Understand differences the in Internet attacks from phishing, trapdoors, Trojan horses, viruses, and worms
    • Set up a firewall appropriate to the user environment
    • Understand the major cryptography approaches and when to use them
    • Understand how authentication methods work
  • There is no limit on the number of attendees

  • Instructor Qualifications

    1. Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
    2. 5 years professional experience in software engineering
    3. 5 years experience teaching computer professionals at the Graduate school level
